Exceptional Japanese Imperial Decoration
For sale is an 8th Class Order of the Sacred Treasure medal (勲八等瑞宝章, Kun Hachi-tō Zuihōshō), one of the oldest Japanese imperial decorations, instituted in 1888 by Emperor Meiji.
Description
- Star: 8-pointed with spherical tips in silver
- Ribbon: white and golden yellow, official colors of the order
- Original Box: Japanese black lacquer with engraved gold characters
- Probable Era: Meiji (1868-1912) or Taisho (1912-1926)
Condition
The medal and box are in very good condition considering their age. The original black lacquer presentation box with Japanese character inscription is included.
